After Trump's devastating federal Medicaid cuts to abortion-providing healthcare organizations, Maine Family Planning–a network of 18 medical clinics serving low-income folks across the state–has been forced to shut down its primary care program, cutting off essential medical services for nearly 1,000 patients.
MAGA's cuts ripped $2 million in Medicaid funding from Maine Family Planning. Now, 1,000 patients are without primary care.

In the face of nationwide disapproval, the MAGA-controlled Congress pushed through Trump’s budget, initiating a series of devastating cuts to essential social services for women, queer, and poor folks.
This budget guts medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. This attack on abortion has put 200+ Planned Parenthood clinics in danger of reducing services or closing entirely, impacting the reproductive care of 1.1 million folks. Already, we are seeing direct impacts of budget cuts on abortion services. Wisconsin Planned Parenthood suspended abortion services in the absence of Medicaid reimbursements. Louisiana’s last two Planned Parenthood clinics closed. Maine Planned Parenthood expects to close clinics in rural areas. We know that poor, BIPOC, rural, and immigrant communities will be hit hardest.
These funding cuts for Planned Parenthood follow months of attacks on federal funding for hospitals that provide gender-affirming care to trans youth, causing clinics across the country to stop providing this life-saving care to young people .

Following our F*** THE CUTS campaign opposing the MAGA-budget, Feminist Generation is launching the next phase to defend reproductive and trans justice, and fight for access to reproductive and gender-affirming care in the absence of federal funding.
Through our KEEP CLINICS OPEN campaign, we are organizing from the ground-up to demand our state and local governments, school boards, universities, and even student governments AFFIRM our right to reproductive and gender-affirming care and act to BACKFILL federal funding cuts to keep clinics open and accessible to all.
